Penny Mock
Penny Mock has lived in the Hoodland area, including Brightwood, Welches, and Zigzag, for more than 50 years. She was first drawn to the region by its beauty and the people who make it feel like a true community, and she has remained deeply connected to the area ever since.
Penny joined AntFarm’s Board of Directors because she values the organization’s impact and wants to be more involved, especially in helping strengthen programming and community support in the Welches area. As a retired educator, she has always enjoyed working with youth and feels passionate about creating opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and feel supported close to home.
Her professional background includes environmental education through outdoor school and the Youth Conservation Corps, followed by years of work with Multnomah Education Service District as a transition specialist, work experience coordinator, and educator in special and alternative education settings. Penny has also volunteered as a tutor, supported people in recovery, and served as a hike leader for youth. She has been especially impressed by AntFarm’s work with youth and by the impact of the Firewise program helping communities protect their homes from wildfire risk.
Outside of board service, Penny enjoys yoga, meditation, hiking, cross-country skiing, and traveling. She also supports Neighborhood Missions and the Lions Club and loves spending time with her grandchildren.
“Live a full life because life is short.”
