My father was the cook in our family. He brought joy to the table, singing over spaghetti sauce, reciting Shakespeare to his casseroles. Feeding his family became an outpouring of love. The seeds of my passion for cooking were planted. Then came restaurant work which sparked a new reverence: service, guest experience, and the art of feeding one’s community. I was blessed with my first restaurant and then a second. When my restauranteur years concluded, I remained in food service as a private cook, as Kitchen Manager at a retirement community, and as Kitchen Manager for a Brew Pub in the Columbia River Gorge. My special talent was an innate ability to bring order out of chaos. I value the importance of flexibility in a dynamic setting. In each of these incarnations, love and service remain my North Star.

Sheila supports and trains the youth of our community, infusing the learning experience with team work and kindness. Her vast management experience contributes to a cohesive working environment between BOH (kitchen) and FOH (baristas.) Because the Cafe is the face of AntFarm and all of its programs, Sheila is committed to excellent customer service, a welcoming environment and healthy food.

The 2020 wildfire season was a wake-up call for many Oregonians, myself included. Our rural communities have a lot of work to do to be prepared for the next major fire, and it’s very fulfilling to assist homeowners in planning and carrying out mitigation projects. Working outside with youth interested in fire, forestry, and tree care is always rewarding, and I’m very proud of the fuels reduction crew and what they’ve accomplished so far. They’ve become a real asset to our mountain communities in the ongoing effort to become truly resilient and fire-adapted.

Logan has been on board since 2021 when AntFarm first received funding to do wildfire mitigation work. He’s a Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist through the National Fire Protection Association. Logan manages our Community Wildfire Defense Program, which provides no-cost property assessments and fuels reduction work to homeowners across rural Clackamas County.

Growing up on the farm, my Grandpa used to say “Any job worth doing is worth doing right.” This is a lesson I try every day to teach to our youth. There’s a lot of different tools that will get a job done, but taking the extra time to determine the best one will help you ensure that it is done right. Whether we are building a trail up on the mountain with one of our YouthCore Teams or cutting the grass for one of our seniors through CommunityConnect, the idea of building core values through our work is always front and center.

Neal’s prior experience and passion for helping youth makes him a great asset to AntFarm. Neal oversees all Outdoor services including YouthCore,CommunityConnect, Woodlot, Planet 365, and Workforce and Public Land Contracts. He manages our largest group of youth volunteers and employees. They are all in great hands.

My professional goal is to foster stability in our underserved communities, and I am glad to have the opportunity to act on that goal while working at AntFarm.

If I were to look back at my childhood, the most consistent and profound memories I have with family and friends are all centered around the table. Nourishing food, big laughs, and the unspoken but unanimous commitment to gather around a meal and connect. I now realize as an adult how fortunate I was to have experienced that ritual. Little did I know I’d eventually be drawn towards fostering that same concept as a part of my work, and ultimately become an advocate for community. The two seem to go naturally hand in hand, so it makes sense that I’ve come to this place in my career. I truly believe there’s an intrinsic pull we all feel, regardless of our roots, that we want that same experience of connection through community. And it’s simple what the Cafe and Bakery is holding space for: a wholesome menu, and a welcoming environment for anybody and everyone to gather and connect. And I’m lucky to help cultivate that for our community.

Cierra originally worked for AntFarm from 2015-2018, beginning as a barista and then becoming the Cafe and Bakery Manager. After holding various managerial positions away from the organization, she returned to AntFarm in 2023. Cierra works now as director of the Cafe and Bakery, Cultural Arts and Communications.

Until Covid hit, I had been a stay-at-home mom of three. I love helping people and being involved in the community, so joined AntFarm on their Covid team in 2021. I have a background in Education K-5 and also Preschool Special Education. Nunpa

Two Foxes Singing (Nunpa)

Executive Director

When my partner and I established AntFarm years ago, we did so from the teachings of Frank Fools Crow. He spoke a basic truth: “Survival of the world depends on our sharing what we have and working together.” It is through these words I discovered my passion that positive change occurs when community works together. Focusing on youth as the next generation and seniors as those with the experience and history of the past has definitely demonstrated the positive change necessary to make Grandfather Fools Crow words a reality.  When we support each other, regardless of political or personal beliefs, we always find common ground and discover healthy ways to live together. I am thankful that AntFarm has become a place where healing occurs for all people.

Two Foxes Singing, known as Nunpa, is an Occupational Therapist, community leader, and youth advocate. With his life partner of 20+ years, Nunpa and Damon founded AntFarm in 1997. Damon continues to provide support for staff and programs, while Nunpa serves as the Executive Director overseeing our Café & Bakery, grants & funding, accounting, and systems administration.

Director of Human Resources & Operations

Office Phone: (503) 668-7962

When I was a struggling new mother, I sought out the help of a non-profit breastfeeding group. I was so thankful for the support, I wanted to give back to others. I became a volunteer supporting other mothers and that organization for 10 years. Realizing the importance of non-profits and volunteering, I also started helping at a local horse rescue where I continue to volunteer today. My passion for non-profits and volunteering led me to AntFarm. I see lives positively impacted daily from AntFarm’s program: satisfied customers, accomplished tutors, excited youth, thankful community members, and fulfilled employees. I am so grateful to contribute my skills to and be a part of this incredible organization.

As our Director of Human Resources and Operations, Anne brings to AntFarm the skills and knowledge to keep us organized and following policies and procedures. Anne and her team are in charge of human resources, operations, risk management, facilities management, quality management, and training and development.

Kim Wheeler

Kim Wheeler

Living and working in the Sandy area since 1983, Kim has always had a heart and love for our community.  Having 5 children and 2 grandchildren of her own, she has such an appreciation for the youth in her community and the support and guidance that we give to them as a community.  That is why AntFarm is so important to her.  Starting as a volunteer in December of 2010, we were just a vision and a vacant building.  With much work and dedication from so many we are making a huge difference with our youth and elders, which is why serving on the board is so important to maintain and protect the vision of our founders.

Kim is the Director of Youth & Family Services for AntFarm. When not dedicating time to her community, she loves camping, gardening and the beach!  Her family’s homestead is in Boring where they raise beef cattle and enjoy the country simplicity.

Joe Goodley

Joe Goodley

Joe is currently the Youth Sports Coordinator for Rowe Middle School in Milwaukie, OR. He’s worked in the education field for the past 18 years— as a SMART reading program volunteer for eight years, in the classroom and drama department at Jefferson High School, and as an on-site coordinator with Todos Juntos (All Together) at Rowe MS. The different contexts and variety of positions have allowed Joe to understand and plan how to work with youth in one on one situations and in small or larger group settings. He believes teens should allowed to be themselves, while also learning life skills to help them in future endeavors, and that his patience and objectivity would be a great asset to AntFarm.
