CommunityConnect

CommunityConnect helps NE Clackamas County elders maintain independent living by assisting with home management tasks they can no longer do.

More Info

CommunityConnect

CommunityConnect started in 2014 through the work of community servant Ken Hovda. Ken led crews of AntFarm youth volunteers helping hundreds of seniors and people in need. Today, CommunityConnect crews continue to help elders and folks with disabilities with home management tasks that they struggle with on their own, always as our gift to the community. Youth volunteers learn the value of their work and the impact that they can have on their community, all while brightening the days of our honored neighbors.

Public Land Crews

AntFarm’s Public Lands Program began in 2013 as a response to community needs for workforce development and environmental stewardship opportunities for youth.

The program’s first major project was in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management, where AntFarm youth helped build the Sandy Ridge Trail System. This successful collaboration laid the foundation for expanding AntFarm’s public lands work into other areas, including wildfire mitigation, invasive species removal, and trail maintenance. Over the years, the program has grown through partnerships with organizations like the Mt. Hood National Forest, the Oregon Department of Forestry, and local municipalities. Today, AntFarm’s Public Lands Program continues to provide valuable job training while helping to restore and preserve public lands across the region.

CWP Internships

AntFarm’s Community Work Program (CWP) creates paid “On-the-job Training” opportunities for young folks to work in the industries they are interested in. Youth entering CWP begin with classes on resume writing, professionalism and job interview skills. After a period of service-learning in an AntFarm program, youth interview for a paid position in a business in one of the following sectors: Healthcare, Construction, Manufacturing, Technology, Childcare or the Public Sector. Youth then work in that business for up to 100 hours learning all the skills they need to be successful in the role and expanding their network of connections in that field. At the end of the program, many youth go on to continue in the role that they were trained for, while others move on with real world experience and a new reference on their resumes.
